This subreddit has been created to give expats of all nations, living in France, the opportunity to chat, help and generally have a nice time together. Please read the Rules before posting. And don't forget to drive on the right!

  1. Keep it relevant
    Priority: 0

    Posts must relate to France or being an expat in France. Keep it relevant. This does not preclude fun things!

  2. Be kind (within reason)
    Priority: 1

    Be nice to each other. That doesn't mean you can't disagree and argue but try to do it in a civil way. As soon as it gets out of hand, mods will be along with a big baguette to restore order.

  3. Don't be a bigot
    Priority: 2

    Racist, homophobic, sexist, transphobic or similar attacks will result in permanent bans. If in doubt, don't.

  4. Follow the site rules
    Priority: 3

    Posts must follow the site wide content policy. Violations of the content policy may result in bans and reports to the reddit admins.

  5. Expat or Immigrant?
    Priority: 4

    Life's far too short to go through this again. All new posts or comments on this subject are deemed to be troll attempts. For the purposes of this subreddit, the terms are interchangeable.

  6. Self Promotion
    Priority: 5

    Submitting your own content is perfectly fine, but make it clear that it's your own content and read the site wide guidance on self promotion written by the admins.

  7. Local Information & Department Number
    Priority: 6

    If you are posting asking for local information, please include your department number in square brackets at the end of the title. For instance, if you are looking for information about festivals in Finistère, end your title with [29].

  8. Mod Tyranny
    Priority: 7

    The mods (currently just me but I'm hoping it's not just me!) will make and enforce the rules. If there is a problem, let us know. Remember, we give up our spare time to do this. Remember the 'Be kind' rule!

  9. Advertising
    Priority: 8

    To protect our group's users, all advertising must include the name and SIRET Number of the business or the equivalent for the country the business operates from (and show where the business operates from).

    The Mods have the absolute discretion to remove any advertising without giving reasons.

  10. New Rules
    Priority: 9

    As the subreddit evolves, the rules will evolve. We will post a post with any new rules as we make them up.
