  1. Be respectful
    Priority: 0

Pretty self explanatory. It is okay to use constructive criticism and have disagreements, but if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Remember that it is natural for people to be worried over some political stuff, so when they may ask a question/want some more information to help them feel better, be mindful of that as well.

  2. Be accurate and actually optimistic
    Priority: 1

There is a key difference between optimism and delusion, and it’s that optimism is where we find the cold hard facts of a situation that are positive, while delusion is claiming something is positive when it likely isn’t. Whatever you share, whether it be a post or a comment on a post that may be asking for some optimism, make sure there is verifiable evidence behind what you are saying.

  3. Be on topic
    Priority: 2

What this means is that this subreddit is, as the name suggests, mainly for political optimism. Anything completely different is likely to be removed. Repeat offenders are likely to be banned.

  4. Posts that ask for optimism must have the question(s) in the title.
    Priority: 3

Section 1: If you make a post asking for an optimistic perspective or take on something, you must have such question/questions in your title.

Section 2: You may expand on your question in the body text if you would like, but your primary question/questions should be in the title.

Section 3: Posts that violate this rule will be removed. Repeated offenders will be punished to the discretion of the moderators.

  5. Reputable Sources
    Priority: 4

Please do not use social media posts, screen grabs, or emails from Grandma to support any statements. We want to share factual optimism here.

  6. See Announcements/Megathreads
    Priority: 5

In order to cut down on the number of posts pertaining to one topic please see the Megathreads at the top of the sub and contribute there.
